As the first port of call for many of our clients, we do not only advise on litigation and
arbitration in Hong Kong, but also assist our clients in mapping out strategies that will
help them achieve their objectives. This frequently involves us advising on and assisting
in taking steps (such as injunctive and final enforcement measures) in various jurisdictions
around the world including in the PRC.
The firm’s recent work includes:
- Acting for a major US defence contractor in relation to the arrest of the “ASIAN ATLAS” in Hong Kong waters for a US$4.5 million damage claim.
- Acting for a subsidiary of an international bank in relation to misdelivery claims brought against the carrier in the Hong Kong Courts.
- Advising liquidators of a Hong Kong based ship-owning company in relation to the winding-up of the company and the arrests of the company’s various vessels.
- Acting for shipowners in relation to a conspiracy by the charterer and various related
entities to defraud the owners. This case involved obtaining various injunctions and
disclosure orders in the Hong Kong Courts as well as assisting the authorities withcriminal investigations.
- Acting for a major international trading company in an arbitration against PRC entitiesand subsequently in relation to the enforcement of the arbitration award in the PRC.
- Acting for charterers and owners in various arbitrations in London and in Hong Kong.
